A Thing
A safe, anonymous space for self‑expression.
Overview
A Thing is a lightweight, judgement free platform where users can share thoughts, reflections, or private journal entries with complete anonymity. It’s designed to feel like a digital sanctuary a minimalist place to get things off your chest, whether it's a fleeting note or a deeper reflection. The goal is to foster connection, empathy, and authenticity without the pressure of identity or audience.
The Challenge
Creating a seamless, anonymous experience that balances open self-expression with community safety. Ensuring performance and data integrity while keeping the interface minimalist and distraction‑free.
Our Solution
Built a stripped-down front end to prioritize content and clarity. Backend services leverage Node.js with PostgreSQL and Redis for journaling and session handling. Deployed AI moderation via OpenAI API, with Docker and GitHub Actions enabling a reliable CI/CD pipeline.
Results
- A serene, trusted space with organic, regular user engagement
- Positive feedback on mental wellness benefits
